I always thought dating is when you’re in a relationship and you still make time for each other. But turns out, dating is a phase in this art of love.
Dating is the phase before a relationship where you get to know each other better and to test the potential to be together. I think it’s the phase where you always have your best foot forward, you come home with celebrations and any troubles are dealt with by friends and families. It’s the infatuation phase, the honeymoon phase, the madly in love phase. It’s a wonderful phase to be in.
At the same time, I’m really excited for the next phase — a relationship.
Relationship is where love is an action not just a feeling. It’s the “be there on the good and bad times”. It’s the “loving you despite seeing that you’re not perfect”. Or “that problems you once had friends and families to deal with, let’s deal with it together”. It’s realising that the best foot forward was a side of someone and there’s also another side of someone’s vulnerability, of bad days, of tough times. It’s to be there no matter what. It’s forever.
I’m excited for the relationship stage of love. A forever. Where someone comes in to define love.
