Types of Love

You are here: Home / Love / Types of Love

October 13, 2016

Someone once told me, when you break up and still manage a friendship with that person, it either means you’ve never loved that person or you have never stopped loving that person. In general, relationships end with lovers returning to strangers. I never understood this until now.

Pure Love

Perhaps this is what love really means. To love someone selflessly with all my heart and my soul and to know that he is happy even if it is not me who gives him that happiness, that is more than enough. If it is at the expense of me, it doesn’t matter.

I love him despite the distance, despite the differences, despite everything in between. All I want is to be in his life, like his in mine, and to continue to grow together. I want him to be happy, always – even if he finds someone new. I’ll always be a call away. I’ll always be prepared to drop everything and be right by his side. I love you and I simply love you.

Romantic Love

This love is slightly different. It’s a selfish love. I hope that I am the reason he is happy. It kills me to see him with some other girl. I probably find it challenging to meet him with his other girl. When all things end, I’ll thank him for the memories and moments shared, but perhaps we will see each other again in a long long time. I love you, but I can’t stand the sight of you being with someone other than me.

Types of Love

There are so many more definitions of love. But tonight, I finally understood the difference between pure love and other types of love. It’s easy to find other sorts of love anywhere. But pure love, it’s rare and so precious.

I’m beyond thankful to be blessed with the experience of several types of love. In the end, it’s the person’s embrace in which you’d like to fall into, when you’re drunk and in a room filled with all the people you love.

I hope everyone finds that some day.

Love,
L
