Art

I think art is the highest form of perfection. Life is art; we are a work of art.
The reason I think art is the highest form of everything is because art just is. There is no such thing as perfect. It is the little perfection and imperfection that get aggregated into a masterpiece. That piece is art. Art includes everything, the glory, the mess, the truth, the heartbreak, the sadness, the uncontainable happiness. What we can’t express in words, we do so in art. Art makes you feel — it elicits an emotional connection to share experiences beyond what one can consciously express.
Once in a while, I enjoy a silent happy night alone. I have some dark chocolate and single malt, and I play songs from the 70s. The music, the flavour of the chocolate, the texture of the single malt transport me to a another place, a quiet little world where I just am. Silent, present, at peace. One of my favourite nights. (Shared this little world with some friends, but I really love this alone.)
Books do the same too. Some economics or philosophy drop me into this world of my own, wandering around other people’s minds and thoughts, exploring their ideas and creating new ideas of my own. Sometimes, I get deep into a fiction book, imagining myself in those worlds; another reality of my life. What a joy. What a luxury to experience those emotions and feelings in those worlds.
The challenging part is to understand and remember that art is to be appreciated. It is not just meant to be admired from afar, but to hold it, experience it, feel it. A good movie, a beautiful song, a classic poem, a fantasy novel, a painting that you want to stare at all day long. (Fun fact, I did that in Giverny, France. My friend had to pull me away because I was so captured by that image. It brought me to this new world of peace and presence. It was beautiful.)
Art is meant to be experienced.
Love,
