Why
People always ask me, why do I do what I do. I feel compelled to define that in monetary terms, because “because I like it” is not a good enough answer. Nor “because I want to change the world” is not measurable enough to convey why I love what I do.
5 Why
Why?
Because I love it.
Why do I love it?
Because I believe the people who are crazy enough to change the world can change it.
Why do I want to change the world?
Because the world is a loan by our future generations, and I want to do what I can to make the world a little better for the next generation.
Why does that matter?
Because this world is not ours to begin with. To be born in Singapore, to be raised globally, to be able to have all these experiences and adventure are all a luxury and privilege to be leverage to make tomorrow’s world a little better. (I’m not a consequentialist. More balanced between Kantian and consequentialism)
Why do I care about that?
I strongly believe that this technology can make the future better. And I am excited to be part of this change to allow this new tech to flourish. And make the future systems just a little better. I am by no means promising perfection. It is only in perfect equilibrium in the long-run, and we are all dead by then!
What keeps me going
The man that loves walking, will walk further than the man who loves the destination.
I noticed something. I prefer the process and activity to the outcome. I like building and doing. (That’s why I love hiking & trekking.) People don’t do things anymore, they just want the outcomes. Which is fine, I totally get that. It is just not me.
I love constant growth. It is the process of doing this that keeps me going. I am working with this technology that keeps growing and changing. I love it. Whenever I am near a destination of small goals, I look forward to beginning the next journey after much deserved celebration.
Or maybe, maybe cause I am simply just crazy enough to think I can do this.
So there. I love what I do because it simply brings me joy to think that I can contribute to the future. What a time to be alive! I’m grateful and my heart is full.
